13 months old

Nothing too major going on lately.  Just same old same old.  So here are the pics and videos from Sept 17 - 23.  During this uneventful time, he turned 13 months old.  Now that he's 1, the months don't matter as much I guess.

Max getting into stuff (but notice he hasn't let go of the TV remote in his hand)

Brittany took Max and Landen shopping with her.  This was Max's first time sitting in a shopping cart like this.  She sent me this picture of them trying on pumpkin top headbands.

Happy Day!  Playing with Brittany's cell phone.

Even better!  TV remote in one hand and cell phone in the other.

Max's sippy cup is the pink one (don't judge - there were limited color choices at the store).  Landen's is the one in his hand.  He quickly switched when Landen's became available, hoping to find some juice in Landen's.

Screaming

Video - Max was trying to scream like his cousins.  I found it funny.

I was playing games with him and "trying" to stop him when he tried to eat his puffs.

Curled up sleeping

"Huh mom?  I'm more interested in the TV."

We got our new blinds installed.  A few days after we moved in, we realized that the blinds weren't the size that we had ordered.  We had ordered, and paid for, 2 1/2 in blinds but they installed 2 in blinds.  It may seem like a minor deal but it was a good deal more to have the 2 1/2 in and I wanted the extra light that the larger size let in.

Tender moment - Max sleeping on his dad.

We went bed shopping for a new king size bed for the master bedroom so we could move our current queen size bed into the guest bedroom.  A furniture store is NOT a great place to keep a 1 year old entertained.

Looking at the pictures of Uncle Alex's family (GREAT present - thank you Tawny!)

It always makes him happy to look at the pictures.

Along with bed shopping comes mattress shopping.  This was more fun for Max until he fell off a bed in one of the stores (Peter caught him) and then started crying because it scared him.  We got dirty looks from the other customers because they didn't see Peter catch him and thought we just let our kid fall off the bed.  That was nice.

Back to the furniture store where we found the courtesy cookies and plied Max with them.

He knocked out afterwards and we were able to enjoy almost an entire meal at Outback Steakhouse.

Max is getting better at walking.  On the 18th, he took 12 steps at a time!

Other things about Max from this week:
  • He will walk a little with you while holding onto just one hand.
  • He screams and throws a little tantrum when he doesn't get his way.
  • He sneaks into both the pantry and the diaper bag to find treats.
  • He is a really picky eater lately.  Some days he likes a particular food and the next day he doesn't.
  • When we try to feed him he turns his head and doesn't even want to try it.  We have to force a bite into his mouth so he can taste the food and then sometimes he will then eat the food.
  • He has a funny quiet scream.
  • He can whisper.
  • He stacked blocks for the first time.  I've been working with him for a long time trying to get him interested in doing that and he hasn't care at all about it.  So I was pretty pleased!

Starting to walk and Rainbows at Sunset

Here's some pics and videos from Sept 10 - 16, 2013.

Some things about Maxwell on Sept 10 (Happy birthday BRITTANY!)
  1. He nearly always crosses his feet - when he sitting on the floor, sitting on my lap, in his carseat or highchair, etc.
  2. He will now point at what he wants
  3. He is starting to climb over things
  4. He can follow some directions like "sit on your bottom" when he's getting a bath
  5. He is showing that he understands more of what we say like if I ask him, "do you want some water?"
  6. He says "yes", "done", and "hi"
Mouth full of teeth - and happy because he's got Landen's cup (Max is always hoping he'll pick up Landen's cup and it will have something other than water in it since he only gets water in his own sippy cup).

Showing me Landen's cup

Video - Max has a new game, he likes to balance things on his head like dryer sheets, tissues, clothes, etc.

Hayden loves Max so much and is great at making him smile and laugh.

Video - We have been trying to get Max to take more than 1 step.  One the 12th he took 4!!!  Here's a video from the 13th.  Brittany and I were practicing taking steps with Max.  Good job Maxwell!!!!

Video - Max has just barely started "dancing"

He's figured out how to pffft

Unhappy face

I found Max in the pantry, he'd grabbed his box of Fiddlesticks off the shelf, opened it up, and helped himself up to one.  !!!  Uh-oh.  I think things are about to get more complicated.  This babe is smart.

"quick" trip to Costco

Being silly

We went on a walk with Brittany and her family around the neighborhood, we had cooler day and it was a nice little break from the heat.  Britt and Joe are showing off their P90x goofiness.

It turned into a beautiful walk!

We could see both ends of the rainbow.

One end was almost over our house.  Our house is just to the left of the tallest roof that you see just to the left of the rainbow.

Gorgeous sunset.

The best meeting I've ever had in my office

On September 11th, I had the best 1 hour meeting yet in my office.

I met with a VIP.........MAXWELL!

Brittany needed to take Landen for a doctor's appt so I offered to take Max back to the office with me after lunch for the hour or so while she had Landen's appt and then she could pick Max up at the office on her way back home.  I figured it would be easier to only take one toddler to the doctor's versus 2 plus I would prefer to keep Max out of doctors offices (away from the sick kids that frequent them).

I think I was able to send maybe 3 emails while he was there.  It certainly wasn't very effective working time but I loved it.  Most of the time I kept my door shut since Max isn't always quiet and somehow the sound of a child echoes louder than any other sound in the office.

We visited a couple of people and then kept busy in my office.  It was fun having him there and I certainly have no problems showing him off but man, it stressed me out because I had thought I would be able to get a little work done and that totally wasn't going to happen.

Sitting in Momma's chair

He looks so little!

I naturally don't have toys in my office so I got creative with the "toys"

He quickly found what he could make a mess with

Next time I will remember that I have some Baby Einstein videos on my laptop plus Max loves watching videos of himself.  Too bad these genius ideas didn't strike until after Max was gone!  The hour went by so fast.
