Here's some pics and details about what Max is like from the first week of August...
I was working from home and had these two cute faces peeping in at me, tempting me to get distracted.
It was sure hard to keep working!
After Kindermusik on Saturday morning, Max wanted to go to a soccer game so I went to a park and figured I could find some random soccer game to watch. I ended up having multiple choices (it's pretty much a guarantee if you go to a park on a Saturday that there will be some soccer game going on). We watched some men playing a pickup game of soccer rather than watch the teen girls. I couldn't take all the parental yelling from the sidelines at the girls game. It ruined the fun of watching. I'm sure these guys were wondering why the lady with her little kid were standing there watching them. Max had a lot of fun watching and commenting.
Tucked up all tightly while taking his nap
Side view - that bum is pretty high in the air!
We enjoy dinner at our friends Andrea and Jeff's. Max had fun playing with the toys.
I had a total parenting fail moment though. I had forgotten to bring ANY diapers. Thank goodness Andrea had some pink pullups. Sorry, Max!
On Sunday, we watched C for awhile. Max had fun playing with her.
He enjoys stacking his toys lately... (uh..this "cheese face" is so natural, right??)
Lunch date!
I let Max help me bake. He enjoyed being part of the process.
Special treat
He enjoyed the beater. :)
Peter surprised me with a few silly pics on my phone.
Kisses
In preparation for my upcoming cruise, Brittany and I went to go get a pedicure.
Rose petals and all kinds of other things. Fancy!
My toes are ready for the beach!
Us girls has our Girls Time...The boys had their Boys Time getting lunch at In-N-Out.
A nice big update about Max...Keep in mind he's about a half a month away from 2 years old.
- I am not a great mom because I am easily swayed into giving Max the iPad or iPhone in the morning to occupy him so I can sleep longer.
- Lately he likes watching Thomas the Train, and Dora the Explorer.
- He says "uppy down" to either get up or down.
- He hates us brushing his teeth, I tried distracting him with the phone but he won't pay attention. He bites down on the toothbrush so I can't move it or puts his tongue in front of his bottom teeth so I brush them. So frustrating!!!
- Peter is the one who mainly puts him to bed.
- He loves Peter's little bump on his arm and will rub it during cuddle time. Sometimes he will rub the freckle on my arm the same way.
- He is unfortunately into his nipples (or "bipples" as he calls them) and if he has a shirt that he can get his hands up, you will probably see him reach up there and touch them and then count them. Hope this phase doesn't last long, this could get inappropriate...
- He was really cute with "Uncul Mahk", "Grammaw", "Iah", and "Licia" (Uncle Mark, Grandma, Mariah, and Felicia)
- He is getting braver with water and will splash himself either with the hose or with water in the shower
- In the swimming pool we will let him jump in (no float) to us and go under a little bit and he does good with it as long as it's him jumping in versus me dunking him, which we do at swimming lessons and he doesn't like
- At swimming lessons he is just starting to blow bubbles into the water. He won't close his mouth though when "swimming".
- Favorite books right now are the "cat the cat" books and books about dinosaurs baking, having a birthday party, etc.
- He is good at kicking and then running and kicking the ball again. You can't really call it dribbling the ball but that's what he's doing.
- He's not so good at catching the ball and will miss it 95% of the time.
- He screams a lot, growls too, and will throw instant tantrums.
- He loves peanut butter.
- Meals are sometimes good sometimes not...
- He is participating more and more at Kindermusik even though we have a new teacher, which I am happy to see.
- He needs a hair cut but I love running my hands through his longer hair and I would hate not being able to do that anymore. :(
- He gives the cutest cheek kisses!
- He wants to talk on the phone and starts out talking but quickly it turns into him just playing on the phone and not talking. His favorite person to talk to on the phone is Aunt Kimi.
- Can't quite jump for real yet.
- Shopping with him is HARD, he just is so wiggly.
- He is good at whispering and understands how to talk nicely and stop whining or screaming.
- He is helpful! Often he says "I get it!"
- He is starting to work on getting dressed/undressed and can take off his pants or put his arms in the sleeves of his clothes.
- He is certainly a daddy's boy.
- When he sees bugs on the cement he blows raspberries right at them. I'm not sure where this came from.
- His eyes are so pretty in the sunlight.
- We are starting to see him really play with his cousins and not just play next to them.
