4th week of June - Dressing up for a tea party

Sometimes, when you have to work (cuz, you know, you're an adult) it doesn't really feel like summer because you still go to work M - F and don't get a break.  I have to make a conscious effort to make sure we do things on the weekend that feel like we are actually in summer.

Thanks to Aunt Brittany, though, the kids still did fun summer stuff during the week while Peter and I slaved away for "the man".

They played at the park

We signed up for a Kids Bowl Free program for the summer so that whenever we went bowling, Maxwell was free.  Since he has really been enjoying bowling we think this will be a fun thing to do together.

However, I have determined it's not fun for everyone.  It's awful for Emmalyn.  She no longer is happy being in the stroller and just sitting there the whole time now that she's walking.  However, it doesn't work for her to NOT be in the stroller because then she's running around everywhere and whatever parent isn't helping Max is chasing her around.  This, naturally, messes with the tempo of the game and by the end of it both Peter and I are tired of dealing with Emmalyn.  So... while Maxwell loves it, I'm not sure how often we will do it because Emmalyn's not at a good age for this activity anymore.

Working out with Brittany

Playing the wii with daddy at night.  It is now an alternate choice for Maxwell in the bedtime routine instead of playing on the iPAD for a few minutes.

I didn't take this pic of my dad and Marriann but I love it and so why not blog it?  They are so sweet together.

Lunch at Chik-fil-a - - again she requires entertaining now.  She's not really into coloring yet but she will play a little with Maxwell's cars.

Another indoor soccer game.  This time our team had to wear the yellow shirts.  The kids were so little they came down to their knees.  It was pretty cute.

We were invited to a tea party at Andrea's house.  She's an amazing host and I always welcome a chance to dress the kids up.  :)

Emmalyn got this adorable dress handed down to her by our neighbor.  This was the perfect place to wear it (and she looked adorable!).

My little princess toddling around

I wanted to get a pic of the two kids... this was the best I got - hah!

It's crazy - this is my family!
(How in the world did that happen?  I sometimes feel like I'm still in my 20s and just "playing" house.  It's not real.)

Silly kid...

...more silly...

...even more silly...

...Ha!  Mr. Silly!

We went and enjoyed a live band on the grass at our city square.  The night wasn't too hot, there were lots of families so our kids could be kids, and we ran into some good friends.  It was a totally enjoyable evening.  We are going to have to do this more next summer!  (Which will be even better to have Emmalyn a little older.)

(notice Emmalyn's got her favorite snack)

Time to go.  Maxwell charmed his way into a bunch of stuff from the vendors.

Maxwell cracks me up.  He is great at vocalizing what he is thinking and it's really great to hear how his mind works.  One morning when I was dropping him off at Brittany's, I told him to make sure and take a nap and fall asleep at Brittany's and he goes, "I probably won't close my eyes".  Ha - thanks for the honesty, bud.

And then I had to work one evening due to meetings and was on Facetime with Maxwell before he went to bed and he blew me kisses and then told me to keep his kiss in my heart.  I totally teared up with how sweet he was and wanted to blow off my evening commitments and go home right then and hug my sweet son.
