Second week of February 2017

Sleeping all covered up

Look, I curled my hair (rarely happens).  Feel good about how I'm looking with the weight loss.

Looking all handsome and ready for school

Her hair is getting long

Maxwell is signed up for t-ball for the first time so we had to get him outfitted

Happy birthday Hayden!

Love this curly haired little girl!

We played outside at the park after Kindermuisk

Then later we hit up another park because the weather was so nice!

Maxwell's sweet note to his friend Preston.  We mailed it to him in an envelope.  It says (I'm correcting the spelling) "Hey Preston Can we have a play date on March 4th?  You are the best friend I could have.  From Maxwell to Preston.

Maxwell was invited to a birthday party for his friends from Castle - Joshua and Lucas.  It was at the Heard Museum.  The kids got to do crafts, walk outside and see the dinosaurs, and they brought in some animals to show the kids.

Maxwell was bold enough to get up and go touch a few of them.

Emmalyn was interested but hesitant

Playing around at the party

Because the day wasn't full enough - Peter and I also had tickets to go see Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the musical

Maxwell just lost his first tooth a week ago but he's got another that is right ready to come out.  This time, Maxwell knew what to expect and so he was super nervous and upset and just did not handle it well.  The tooth clearly needed to come out but getting it out was a whole other story.

We tried to do the floss technique like the first tooth but it just wouldn't stay on.

terror...tears...screaming...  ugh

Momma tried using a starburst to stick to the tooth.  That didn't work.

Trying to grab it with a tissue didn't work, Maxwell was freaking out too much.

Trying to hold him down so dad could get it.  Didn't work.  We stopped the torture eventually because it was just getting ridiculous.  He wanted it out but at the same time he didn't.

Maxwell calls me Momma-bunana so I call him Maxwell bubaxwell. Emmalyn calls Maxwell cutieous maxus (he came home and taught us about glutious Maximus and that's what she thought he was saying).
We were talking with Maxwell this week and he said his friend Brooklyn in class wasn't very nice to him today because she said she wouldn't be his girl friend and he was sad about that because she was other boys in the class's girlfriend. He said he wouldn't be her boyfriend and he wasn't going to marry her anymore. I told him not to worry about it and it's more important to be friends plus he doesn't have to pick who he is going to marry for 20 years.  (Can't believe I need to have these conversations with my Kindergartner!)

Emmalyn loving her squeaky shoes.  She doesn't wake up in the middle of the night asking us to cover her up with her blanket anymore, she just snuggles into her soft peppa pig blanket but likes it around her face which makes me nervous.  She is a cuddler and on the couch or in the bed she wants to be right next to you. Max has been wanting us to fall asleep with him at night when we are tucking him in.

End of January 2017

Emmalyn caught trying to put on some lip gloss.  some of it made it to her lips.  :)

Snuggles with my kiddos

We went to see this play as part of our season tickets to the winspear opera house.  We totally had spaced that we had a play that night and so about 30 minutes before the show started Peter got a reminder on his phone and we dropped everything and left (it's 45 minutes away).  This play was INTENSE.  On one side, it probably would have been helpful to not miss the first part of the show because we might have understood better what was going on.  But on the other hand, I was grateful we missed some of it because it was totally enjoyable and like I said was a very intense play.

How I really felt about the show

Each day Maxwell comes home with a folder from school and if he has an behavioral issues, his teacher will sign his folder and write down what the issue was.  Well, kudos to him - - he went all the way until the second week in January before he got his folder signed.  That's a pretty good kid. (It ended up being the only time he got his folder signed all year.)

Karaoke fun after showers

I had my leadership team in for a meeting and one of them was sick so they all wore these masks as a joke.

Maxwell being a chef and putting some granola and fruit on his yogurt.

Joe's brother came to town for a few days and the kids LOVED having him here.

Reading with daddy

Maxwell was chosen by his teacher to be a Star Student.  He was recognized in the school assembly called "Norris Now" and I was able to go and see him. The star students ares in specific award categories that are chosen based on the school's character traits that are learned about in Character Lab (the specials teachers run this and the students go every 8 days or so).  Maxwell's teacher said that she chose Maxwell for "Curiosity" because he often asks really interesting questions about things and is eager to learn more.  Maxwell was really excited when he saw both Peter and I in the audience.

Maxwell is the front row - second from the right.

We went out for pizza to celebrate

Maxwell came home with his second report card.  They don't say much other than he is at the expected level for everything.  (They don't tell you if they are ABOVE that level.)

A funny thing about Maxwell - sometimes he will talk in a southern accent... could be just a couple words or could be a sentence.  Whenever he does it, Peter and I just look at each other and smile.  The kid lives in Texas, it's bound to happen a little bit!

Love that profile

Love the warm days we get in the winter where we can go to the park without jackets!

Maxwell and daddy going for a run

Maxwell making a poster to take to school to celebrate 100 days of Kindergarten.  He put 100 pieces of washi tape on the poster.
