April 2016 - Finally! A Garden!!

Maxwell had his bike a thon at school.  He was really excited to bring his bike to school.

I had a meeting and couldn't be there to watch  this year.  :(

I took my team at work out to do some geocaching and challenged my team across the country to do the same.  It was fun to get out of the office - - a few of them were serious about it and kept looking until they found it.

Emmalyn and her best buddy Landen.  He goes to preschool a few days a week but when he's home, they have so much fun together at Brittany's.

Loving her time at the park.  She just seems so big in this picture.

Love the genuine smiles and giggles that come when she's in the swing.

I noticed that her feet actually hit the foot rest on the high chair.  It seems like just yesterday that she was in it and her legs would never be that long!

Each time we brush her teeth, she wants to get a drink out of the sink after she's done.

I get some serious handy woman points!!!  Some of the sealant was peeling off in the shower upstairs and our master shower so I googled it and figured out how to reseal it.  I can't tell you how proud of myself I was because this is the type of thing that is outside my comfort zone (even though it ended up being easy).

All the old stuff peel off and ready to be replaced!

Video - Emmalyn is great at jumping!

Maxwell having fun playing with the parachute at Kindermusik.

We stopped to get the airheads slurpee!  Have to support my brands.

It's rain boot season!

Ready to play in the rain

Even though it was rainy and gloomy, Peter and I decided to bite the bullet and finally put the garden together.  I've wanted it forever but it just hasn't happened.  There seemed to always be some other priority...  We are doing a 4x4 raised bed garden.  Peter put together the bed and I did most everything else.

Weed barrier down!

Here's all the dirt we bought to go into the garden.

It was a lot of work getting that dirt in there!!

Maxwell enjoying the treat that my friend Michelle brought the kids.

They were both happy, of course!

I planted a new strawberry plant in addition to my garden.

All done!!!! :)  Hopefully this will keep out the bunnies.  I planted two types of tomatoes (I wanted to do Sweet 100's but when I got home realized that I had grabbed a roma plant instead), snap peas, cucumbers, zucchini, green bell peppers, serrano peppers, and cilantro.  My hope is that I can grow everything I need to make homemade salsa.  :)

Dear little plants, please grow and help me have a great garden!

Summer Fun and Naked Vacuuming

Ah...The fun days of summer.  Since I am off work, it feels like a real summer.  As a working adult, summer just isn't the same since you still go to work Monday through Friday.  It's fun to enjoy summer a little bit without having to go to work.
Max enjoys cereal out of a snack cup and milk in a sippy cup each morning when he climbs into bed with Peter and I and plays on his iPad.  His favorite cereal is "crunchies" (Cap'N Crunch Berries).  They are the WORST, crummiest cereal ever!  This is often what we find left behind in our bed - tiny crumbs everywhere.

I had a stroke of genius this morning because I was OVER the crumbs.  I went and got the never-used dust buster and put Max to work.  Sure he had no clothes on but hey, he was excited to vacuum.  :)  It worked great!

Nachos with sloppy joe meat for lunch.  YUMMY!!!!

Emmalyn actually looking at the mobile above her swing.

We had a picnic outside for dinner.
This is what good summers are made of - - - -
less clothes
being outdoors
grilled burgers and corn
fresh fruit and veggies

Look how clean Peter's cob is - he's got a talent when it comes to eating corn.

My cob is much more messy

He fell asleep self-soothing by playing with his nipples.  Wonder how old he will be when he grows out of this...?

I cleaned my washing machine for the first time ever.  We've had it for nearly 10 years.  I had no idea you should clean it but it makes sense.  It looked awesome when I was done!

Sweetly swaddled and sleeping

Good morning sunshine!

She's got HAIRY ears.  Hopefully she loses that before she starts dating.  I call them her gorilla ears.

At the athletic center swimming with us and the Mejias!  She spent her time in the shade.

But she did wear her swimming suit!

Max tried wearing a life vest for the first time.  He had to sort of relearn how to swim, which was funny to watch.  He caught on though and did great!

The new fan switch (on the left) that I got Peter for our anniversary.  This is how it looked installed.  I love it!

Sneaky little hand snuck out

Emmalyn had her first shower this week.  She had an incredible blow out and Peter happened to be in the shower so I just put her in the shower and took everything off and cleaned her up.  She loved it just like she loved baths (I was so nervous Peter would drop her!).

Max definitely loves Emmalyn and loves kissing her.  He knows he needs to be soft with her but the truth is that he is still a danger to her.  He is too young to understand fully how strong he is and how fragile she is.  He hasn't hurt her but I watch them closely, it would be awful if he ended up accidentally hurting her.

When Max is talking he has trouble with the "th"so "three" comes out "free" and "this" is "dis".  He also has troubles with his "L"s so "like" is "wike" and "yellow" is "yewwo".  I wasn't sure if I should be worried so I asked our friend Jess, who is a speech teacher and she said that's completely normal at his age.  Whew!
