Maxwell performs on stage!

Maxwell had a performance at school where his class sang two songs.  It wasn't a big thing and the parents only watched their kids perform and then we were rushing out of the gym.  I was glad it was something though.  I guess Montessori (or maybe it's just this one) doesn't do the big programs like I've seen from the kids in other preschools in the area.

Maxwell in front of his "star student" poster which was posted in the hall outside his classroom.  He was very proud.

For their program they were supposed to dress up "like where they were from".  Well, he's American and he's a Texan.  (That is super weird for me - to think that both my kids were born in Texas and are Texans!)  We borrowed the cowboy hat from Landen so it was a little big.  We tried Landen's boots but those were WAY too big.

His class did two songs - One was "Leaving on a jet plane" and the other was "It's a small world".  I was so proud of him for getting up on stage...after he refused to go on stage during our cruise I was a little worried but this was different because his class prepared for a long time and this was not the big huge stage on the ship.

I want to remember these cute kids' names...
Back row from L to R:
Emma, Alex, Liam, Nora, Connor
Middle Row:
Jacek, Malia, Joshua V, Joshua K, Preston
Front Row:
Maxwell, Trent, Ida, Ryan, Opal, Harper, Noya

After the program we went out for frozen yogurt - not a typical celebration type thing we do.  I really don't want to have a habit of "celebrating" always with unhealthy food but man, what other option is there that's cheap and quick?  Anyone have ideas?

3 of the 4 of us looking, that's a win

Ha!  Emmalyn trying to get more and Maxwell looking adoringly (?) at his dad

First week of May 2013

Yeah!  May is here!  May is a great month for us - (or me!)... Mother's Day...Anniversary...and Birthday!  We decided to take a long weekend and go to Florida over Mother's Day so we could take Max to the beach.  In preparation for the flights we bought some headphones so that Max could play on the iPad on the plane without disturbing anyone.

Max thought the headphones were pretty cool!

Hate myself in this picture but I love how he's looking at me, so because I love his sweet face so much I am posting this awful picture of me for all to see. (I hate my profile and always have)

Max enjoying his popcorn.

It was a sad day, I had to get a new drivers license because mine was going to expire.  I finally had to give up my CA drivers license.  I loved this picture.  :(  I am now really a Texan.  :(

It was another sad day.  When I drove home from work on 5/7 I had a surprise when I pulled up to our house.  They had begun construction on the empty lot next to us.  It's sure been nice having that space empty (even though it meant more weeds)!

Max really loves the iPad.  Thanks to the iPad he's now been exposed to Barney and Dora and asks to watch them.  Yuck!  I never thought I would let my kid watch that, but I do.  He also likes to play on our phones.  He can reach doorknobs but not completely turn them YET.  He now has started asking for the food that he wants during mealtimes.

I had to travel at the beginning of May for work and when I got back Max knew all kinds of new things thanks to his time with his daddy.  Peter taught Max how to ride his scooter down the driveway with his legs up.  (cute but I'm not a big fan of my child cruising down the driveway toward the street even though Peter catches him each time).  Peter also taught him how to run and kick a ball.  I guess while Momma's away, the boys will definitely play!

Obligatory Texas Blue Bonnet Photoshoot

On April 28 I finally marked off one of my "Texas to-do's".  We went to see the Texas Blue Bonnets and took some pictures.  This is a major thing around here.  The Blue Bonnet is the state flower, it's protected (you aren't allowed to pick it), and every spring when they start blooming people flock to the field to take pictures of the flowers.  I wanted to do it last year but never got around to it.  This year we did it!

The Blue Bonnets

Hayden did great during the photo shoot!  We got lots of cute pictures of him (and a few of Iron Man).

Landen was not interested in sitting and taking pictures.  This is the best picture I have of the two brothers.

Max was this happy for a split second and then he was OVER THIS.

Escaping to dad.

Time to leave - we had some unhappy little boys who weren't cooperating

The flowers were gorgeous though

Max had fun looking at the pictures in the car

All smiles now that he wasn't stuck in the flower

I don't think we'll do this again next year.  We've done it once - check!  Plus little boys in a field of flowers? While I loves pictures of my son, this seems better fitted for a future daughter. :)
