Soaking up the sun in February

The second week of February included lots of time outside because the weather was gorgeous.  It's been such a mild winter.  I love it!!

Daddy/daughter/son selfie

A little batting practice

A little chasing each other around (look how sad and dead my grass is...why can't it stay green?!)

Now a little soccer

Emmalyn was a great cheerleader

This is the face I usually get when I ask Maxwell to smile, then I have to work hard to get him to give me something more genuine.  ugh.... 3 year olds!

This is a little better.

Notice her little scab by her eye?  She often has scabs there because she rubs/scratches around her eyes and her sharp little nails end up wounding her.

Video - Maxwell wanted to take a video of his sister.  I love hearing him say his sister's name and try to get her attention.

Some baby food I made - - asparagus and broccoli.  She loves it.

Playing outside as long as we can until the sun goes down...

Tired girl didn't want to let go of her toy

Video - We are loving the instrument Maxwell got at Kindermusik this semester.  The resonator bars are so much fun!

Pretty girl with so many teeth!

Britt took advantage of the gorgeous weather and took the kids to the park while I was at work.

Hayden and Emmalyn

Maxwell must have had a busy day at school because he fell asleep in Britt's car (with one shoe on?!)

Another Daddy/daughter selfie
It's so great to get home from work and see this beautiful, smiling face!

We celebrated Hayden's 7th birthday with in-n-out for dinner and I made cupcakes that the boys got to frost all by themselves.

These two are buddies for sure.

Maxwell is reading the level 1 books

Emmalyn wanted to watch but was pretty tired

We've been doing bedtime for both kids at the same time which is nice because we get to do it all together but not so nice because Emmalyn is past tired

She didn't stay down for long and wanted to check out the book too

Yeah!  I got a package from Janie and Jack (all future sizes for Maxwell)!  I still love them for clothes for Maxwell and can find decent prices if I wait patiently.  Even the sale prices rarely are low enough for me when it comes to Emmalyn's clothes so instead I look for Janie and Jack clothes at consignment sales for her.

Showing me how big he's getting

I stayed after dropping off Max and watched him get settled in.  He immediately went in and got stuff to start working on.

Video - Max well at school - he gets his notebook and a pencil and then sits down and starts working.  It's awesome to see because at the beginning he needed his teacher's direction all the time.

He loves rice casserole like his momma and daddy!

Sweet sleepy kids ready for bed

Cuddled up with his "special delivery bear"

Emmalyn is now 10 months old!!!
I tried a bow in her hair.  It last only a few seconds, still not enough hair to cling to.

The gang's all here!

Emmalyn at 10 months old!...

  • She's much happier now that her teeth have pushed through
  • She loves to get in the shower and stands against the door if anyone is in there because she wants you to let her in... but she's so wiggly and slippery once she gets in!  It's completely stressful for me.   Although, having her in her baby bathtub is more of a pain now cuz she just wants to stand up.  It's a no win situation right now.
  • She loves to put her head down on pillows. She will pop her head up and look around and then let it collapse into the pillow.
  • She loves to cuddle with me at bedtime and will crawl over Max to get next to me.
  • She's interested in turning the pages of books but not necessarily being read to.
Maxwell
  • When it's time for Max to shower, he asks for Emmalyn and I to take showers with him.  He hasn't been happy about washing his hair lately and so I have to play games to get him to do it.  So, we play "massage" (I'll wash his head slowly) and "no massage" (where I just scrub super duper fast) to wash his hair.
  • Maxwell is doing awesome at reading and is reading level one books now. He's really amazing with what he can read.
  • He's singing more on pitch, too. When we sing at night I know he can hear when he's matching my pitch because he will want to sing with me with our mouths right in front of each other (think singing into my mouth - it's weird). The unison sounds different to him and I think it's cool that he's hearing that, if not consciously understanding why he likes that sound.
  • At night when I'm walking out of his room and shutting the light off, he tells me, Don't let the bed bugs bite, I'll see you in the morning light" and then he's been following it up lately with something like, "And don't let Captain America get you. You can come get my shield and get him dead."  Nice. Nice, my sweet son.  He cracks me up.  Does he even know who Captain America is??
