Middle of April 2015

A few things we were up to between Emmalyn's birthday and her big party...

Max got a haircut

I wanted the beachy, longer haired look.  It didn't quite turn out what I wanted but at least it's better...

Big brother feeding little sister

Sweetly sleeping baby

Emmalyn is growing up.  I see evidence of it every day.  For example, she was in the shower and she rubbed her hands, arm, and belly to wash herself.  It's exciting to think that's she's now on the fast path to her independence but it's also sad to see the baby era start to fade.

Emmalyn got this great little bike for her birthday.  It also has a place for Maxwell to stand on.  They both loved it!

Big smiles

loving the ride from daddy

Maxwell had school pictures.  I thought they turned out pretty bad.  There was no way I was spending money on these when I have so many other cute pics of Max, so all we have is the proof sheet - it's more than enough.

Maxwell took a picture of his socks.  Who knows why.  This kid loves his socks, especially at night when he's sleeping.  He won't go to sleep without socks on.

Britt took the kids to the park

I prepped for Emmalyn's party by putting together the poms.  It was a lovely day outside and I wanted to enjoy it but didn't last very long because the "no see 'em" bugs were all over and biting me like crazy.  They are awful!!

Emmalyn's First Birthday

Man, that happened fast!  Emmalyn turned one on 4-13-15.  This little darling such has added a fun, new dynamic to our family.

Waking up happy!

I was able to take Maxwell to a make-up Kindermusik class at Jeannie's  (She is just amazing but I can't usually take him to Kindermusik during the week.)  He interacted in a whole new way - - he's on the far left with his back to us and he and his partner are rocking back and forth.

Yummy birthday dinner

Bring on the pictures of my beautiful daughter!  I know there's a ton but each one has a different view into her personality or something else I love about it...  I can't cut one out!  So scroll quick through these and get to the more entertaining stuff!

So excited about her present!

How's it taste?

Of course big brother was willing to help open the presents

The boys were all pretty excited about new binkies.  HA!

We did cupcake instead of a cake

Video - Happy birthday to Emmalyn, enjoy that cupcake girl!

(if you don't want to watch - here are some still shots)

Helping his sister blow out the candle

mmmm....cupcake!  Definitely dove right in.

Words that she says:
mama, dada, hi, bye, buh for banana, muh muh for more,

Food that she likes:
cereal, especially cheerios, bananas, melon, applesauce, carrots, sweet potatoes, beans (like black or baked)
anything she can pick up off the kitchen floor whether it's food or not when she's hungry
if she is hungry she will follow you around and then sit up on her knees and bounce up and down as a way to beg for some
Does not like:
plain yogurt, meat most of the time

favorite toy:
doesn't really have one, will play with most things,
likes rolling balls, sophie the giraffe, going through her toys especially pulling them out one by one out of a bucket or basket

still takes the binkie
doesn't like getting her diaper changed
loves the shower
knows what she wants - - if she's not done eating she will push you away from picking her up, if she wants to nurse she will not let you put the binky in her mouth, if you try to get her to walk with your fingers and she doesn't want to she will just sit down and not walk

super drooly
started laughing a lot more
reaches out for her brother's hair a lot - - loves him and wants to be by him.  Not sure if she is trying to pull it to be mean or just trying to touch him...

doesn't sign much even though she knows a few signs
loves songs especially kindermusik songs and will clap to them
loves to "sing"
does Maxwell's bedtime routine, pajamas, vitamins, brush teeth, (watch max on the ipad and starting reading books, read books with max, cuddles (and fight over being by momma) and sing songs and then turn on sound machine and give her binky and lay her down.  she goes right out.  usually goes to bed around 8:15 - 8:30.  Wakes up somewhere between 3:15 and 5:15 to nurse and stays in our bed at that point.  Doesn't always wake up happy anymore.
loves being outside and immediately gets happy even though she freezes and doesn't like to move when on the grass
great at drinking out of sippy cups, straws
good at pointing to people and things she wants
walks along things and stands on her own forever but doesn't want to walk. I think when she does it will be because she will do it on her own instead of us holding her fingers and then her walking towards someone.  independent willed for sure and feisty
usually 2 naps a day which can last from 3 hours to 20 min.  never know what you'll get
so petite and little
momma's girl and fusses for me to pick her up if I'm around but if I'm not around she can be plenty happy with dad - she gives him great smiles and talks to him to get his attention
loves screens - iphone, ipad, tv, etc but we don't have her watching tv yet
blows kisses by making the sound (so sweet) and sometimes with her hand.  Big open mouth kisses,
lets headbands stay in her hair but not enough hair for barrettes
I remember a friend telling me that I shouldn't plan on dressing my daughter in dresses every day because she would have a tough time crawling in them.  However, she does fine in dresses and had an adjusted crawl method to get around getting caught up in her dress
Landen is her buddy - he super loves her
not happy to hang out in the car seat much anymore but then super wiggly on our laps and we end up passing her back and forth to each other
she will growl like a bear or lion when we are reading books, tries to say duck
she loves to read and will sit and read now and loves to turn the pages and feel the pages on the touch and feel books

She's amazing and perfect and we love her!!!
