Last week (23 weeks) saw my belly move when the baby moved for the first time.
I've had more energy - - - many nights I'm up past 10 (and sometimes even make it to 11:30!)
I've only had to do a tums in the middle of the night twice so far this pregnancy.
I'm certainly starting to feel uncomfortable more now. It's been no more sleeping on belly for weeks.
The kids are so excited and focused on the baby...
Emmalyn always asks if he's awake. She's felt him move once and it shocked her :) They both want to feel him move but because his movements are unpredictable, they lose interest in waiting pretty quickly. They both like to hug and kiss the baby.
Emmalyn still says his name is Maxwell Jr but this week she added that he could also be named "Charlie Brown". She's so into being a big sister and taking care of the baby.
Always lots of questions...she was shocked this week when she asked if he was wearing pjs (it was bedtime) and I said he was naked. She thought that was hilarious. She wishes there was a hole in my belly so she could see and poke the baby.
It's nice because I've gotten quite a few compliments from people when they see me and say I look great and am super cute pregnant. I don't remember that happening much before. I still have my maternity clothes from last 2 but they are all XL so while I can wear them, they aren't flattering and just make me look bigger than I am. I get the compliments when I'm wearing the few new clothes I've bought that are smaller sizes. It makes me want to go get more so I look better but I don't want to spend the money.

Emmalyn Update:
Emmalyn is the absolute best and the absolute worst. She will be so tender and loving - say things like when we are cuddling in the morning "mom, I wish we could cuddle forever" and "I love you so much" but then she's also started throwing big fits. Throwing things like her shoes, stomping her feet, and running way when she's supposed to go on time out (in which she screams and cries for 20 minutes). She's loving soccer. Each day when she wakes up she asks if she has school that day, do I have work that day, and what does she have (meaning other activities) that day. If it's the weekend and neither of us have work or school, she goes "yay! that means we can hang out together". She is singing all the time and has an amazing memory for songs and melodies.
Maxwell Update:
Maxwell is so whiny and resistant especially when it comes to food. Feel like all the kid wants to eat is mac n cheese and pizza. It's so annoying at dinner time. We got him a sonic care toothbrush after his last dentist appt and it's made a huge difference in the cleanliness of his teeth. So great!!!

10-30 pregnancy update
At week 10: I told Brittany that I was pregnant
At week 11: I met with an ultrasound specialist. They did an ultrasound. It's early, but he think it's a boy, no sign of downs. We also did blood test for genetic testing to make sure everything else is okay (and will also tell us the sex of the baby). Since I'm so old (ha!) this testing is recommended due to the higher risks of complications for babies with an old momma.
I felt the baby move! It just feels like something moving in my belly, not distinguishable.
Week 12: On Monday, we got a call with results from the blood test, there are no sign of chromosome issues, and confirmed it's a boy!

With that good news, we went home and we decided to tell the kids.
We took a video and told them they were going to have a little baby brother. Their reactions were so cute. Emmalyn was over the moon!! Max came over and asked if he gave me a hug would it make the baby happy?? He immediately gave suggestions for what we could name the baby. It was super sweet.
The kids both are so excited. They are asking lots of questions. Max wants to give the baby kisses nearly every day. Emmalyn asks questions as we are doing daily things...we are showering so she asks :will the baby use baby conditioner? where will the baby shower?" or "where will the baby sleep?" She did NOT like that I said he would sleep in her bed and she'd get a new bed.
The kids have been very attached lately...lots of cuddling.
Max asked if the baby can hear and I said yes so he got close to my belly and loudly said "I love you baby".
About week 12 really started to notice a lessening of nausea and basically gone by 13 weeks.
I feel like I started looking pregnant about 13 weeks.
At week 15, Peter felt baby move for the first time.
How's my second trimester so far? (I'm just at 17 weeks) I'm just exhausted...always tired. still falling asleep watching tv before 10 pm. I could take a nap at any time... also overwhelmed and negative about everything.
Now I am getting winded when going up stairs.
I have no real aversions anymore but like to eat like a child (mac n cheese, pasta, bread, pizza, etc.) My cravings have been frozen lemonade, pizza rolls, I love pickles (and one day I DID have pickles and also ice cream) it's hard for me to drink enough water. I also want to drink soda so badly! I've been adding a little bit of Simply Lemonade to my water to give it a little flavor. I have no energy - hard to get excited about baby. The thought of what it means and the extra work just overwhelms me. I have had a few minor headaches.
Just this week I am breaking out with zits
My hair is thinner and not stopping falling out - - so much for that pregnancy perk.
KIDS update:
Emmalyn - waking up often in 5 am hour last few weeks and not tired anymore. She likes a light on when she goes to sleep. In the morning she asks 3 questions, "What do I have today?" "Are you going to work today?" "Whose choice is it?" (we go back and forth whether she picks her clothes or I do)
She still is clingy when I drop her off at school (after first week she hasn't been super excited to go but she does like it).
On 10/17 when counting she said "16" she has skipped it FOREVER. like always. BIG DAY
She scored her first goal on Saturday at soccer!
Maxwell had eye dr. appt last week and his doctor said that if things stay like this that next summer, when he has next appt, he can probably stop wearing his glasses. He will still will be minorly blurry in that one eye but it won't affect anything and his vision won't get worse. He can wear his glasses only a few hours a day now but we will still have him do it all day. He likes playing goalie at soccer.

Emmalyn's 3rd birthday 4-13-17
Cute words she says wrong - "Restauronk" for Restaurant, "Molana" for Moana. I love her sweet little lisp.
Counts to 20 but always skips 16. Knows her letters but depends on the day may forget some. She has been working on sight words with Brittany and knows 13 of them.
Pretty solid usually on her colors.
She knows her birthday is April 13th and totally understood that starting on the 13th she would be three years old.
Won't let me choose her clothes all the time now - so we compromise. I choose one day and she chooses the next day. She's great at putting on clothes as long as there are no buttons, snaps, or zippers.
Doing great with potty training. Only 1 or two accidents a week (we still put a diaper on her during nap/sleep). She's really aware though and when we are going somewhere she will ask if there is a bathroom there so she knows she will be able to go. She ends up going multiple times when we are out of the house. (At the baseball game I think she went 8 times)
Loves the movie Moana right now.
She loves Kindermusik and loves to sing. I'm really impressed with her memory for music and she can match pitch at times but better than Maxwell could. At Kindermusik she's super engaged and likes to try and take charge and tell Ms. Carolyn what she should do.
She's an animal lover, especially dogs.
She loves her brother and cousins Landen and Hayden. She is like their shadow and wants to be playing and doing what they are doing whether it's a game or baseball outside or riding bikes. She's great at riding her trike.
She likes to color and write with pens. Not close to writing her name yet. I just started introducing her to writing an E the other day. Poor girl is going to have a much harder time learning to write her name compared to Max.
She's very much your usual kid eater. For breakfast she likes cereal and milk (while watching her ipad) and for lunch she likes peanut butter and jelly. For dinner she would love to eat pizza, mac n cheese, or chicken nuggets every night.
She will eat more types of veggies than Maxwell does and even eats tomatoes sometimes (I'm super proud of that).
At bedtime she always wants daddy to brush her teeth because he will let her watch Moana videos on his phone while he's brushing her teeth. (She brushes them in the morning). She likes to cuddle and sing songs. She hasn't slept with a sleep sack for probably 5 months and now sleeps with the fleece Peppa Pig blanket she got for Christmas. She is not a very sound sleeper and often wakes up when we walk in the room. Plus, I often hear her cry out in the night with her dreams and even talk in her sleep. But when I go in there to check on her, she's asleep. One of the last things she always says before we close her door at night is she tells you that in the morning she wants cereal & milk and to watch the ipad and play on the ipad.
She still takes a nap in the afternoon that's usually 1 1/2 to 2 hours long.
She's a cuddler and likes physical touch. She will rub your back or your arm if she's next to you or she will scoot super close to you on the couch so that you are touching. I love it when we are cuddling at night because she will want our heads to be touching.
She still doesn't have a favorite toy. It changes all the time. She does like to play with her doll house.
She's wild and would jump all over the couch if we let her. I keep trying to get her to go jump on the trampoline she got for Christmas but she never does.
Like a typical 3 year old she's quick to cry if she doesn't get her way but she also can shut it off super quickly if we remind her that she needs to use her words instead.
She's super polite and says "excuse me" if someone is in her way, or thank you and please. She's really aware of when someone is giving her a compliment and will say thank you. She's also pretty demanding and has no problem telling you what to do.
She loves wearing her squeeky shoes and while they totally annoy Peter, I find it great to know at all times where she's at. She also loves wearing her boots.
She doesn't want to kiss Peter except on his forehead because his face is "spikey"
It's great when you get home because as soon as she hears mom or dad come in she will yell "mommy" (or daddy) and run full at you.
Different than Max in that when she's done eating her cereal in the morning she wants to come in and cuddle rather than keep watching her ipad.
Her curly hair is crazy. When you do it, it's super cute but she will want it undone when she takes a nap so usually her hair looks great in the morning and then awful the rest of the day.
She loves ice in her water.
She calls Maxwell "brother" and is always super aware of what he's up to and where he is. They are starting to have conversations and really engage with each other (he's also starting to be willing to help her with things).
She loves swimming but doesn't want to go to the bottom of the pool to get the ring. I am hoping she will be swimming a little bit on her own this summer but we'll see.
She's at the phase where she's fascinated with whether or not everyone has a penis. "Does he have a Peanuts Momma?" All the time. And she will ask for people that she already knows the answer.
For her birthday she wanted "a doll that closes it's eyes when it sleeps" and for her birthday dinner she asked for Jambalaya (that was out of left field for me) but then didn't really eat it because she still rarely eats more than a couple bites at dinner.
She's a great cheerleader and loves to cheer on others (especially her brother). For example, during Maxwell's Kinder program, she cheered for him multiple times. "woo Go, Maxwell!"

First week of February 2017 - Maxwell loses his first tooth
Landen turned 6. Emmalyn was excited to sing to him and be next to him.
Look at those cute cousins!
Maxwell's school had a science night with lots of fun experiments and hands on stuff. The kids both loved it. He's playing with magnets here.
This one was standing in a bubble
So much personality!
100 days of school! Maxwell dressed up as an old (sloppy) man.
I'm feeling good about the weight I've lost and how I'm looking! It's exciting to be able to wear clothes you've bought but never worn because it just didn't fit well.
Me and my girl
Love her
How she likes to go to sleep - on TOP of her stuffed animals
Learning some guitar with dad
We LOVE LOVE LOVE Kindermusik with Mrs. Carolyn
Enjoying the playground after Kindermusik
The kids in the hats we brought back from Jamaica
"trying" to get a good picture of them in the clothes we brought home
the best I got
Trying out the soccer outfit with the soccer ball
Silliness
Me with dreads - not a good look
Trying to teach Maxwell how to eat edamame out of the pod. He likes it, it's just hard to get the hang of it!
A little ice cream treat
Guess who has learned to tie his shoes!
Ready...set...
go!!! Playing football.
Our spread for the superbowl. Just the Mejias and us, no big party. Just lots of food.
Emmalyn playing at the mall with Brittany
Maxwell's first tooth was ready to come out!
...Before
He was excited when Peter was going to take it out with dental floss but then as Peter started trying to put the string on his tooth, he got nervous and scared. It was tough for Peter to get the floss on his tooth which I think added to him being scared. Once Peter got it on, he did a quick yank and the tooth was out but boy did we have to endured some panicked crying.
It's out!
Such a little tooth
After (you can't really tell it's gone!)
After
His tooth all ready for the tooth fairy. He was talking about how he was going to sell it to her for $125.00 I told him that was too much.
She gave him $5.00! (The first tooth is very special and worth more than the rest of the teeth to the tooth fairy.)
Those curls
Really loving her personality right now
She wanted to take a picture of me
Brittany and I took the kids swimming inside at the FAC. It was fun to get in a pool!
Update on the Kids:
Maxwell loves soft things - blankets, pjs, shirts, sweat pants, jackets, stuffed animals, etc.
Most of the time when I ask who he plays with at school during recess, he says himself.. That's how he likes it, I guess.
If he ever gets goosebumps when eating a food, he won't eat any more of it.
Emmalyn doesn't sleep peacefully like Maxwell does. She cries out in her sleep a few times a night or whimpers. It's sad but she's at least she's not waking up.
She is getting better at knowing her letters. She still misses C, G (they are both E), N (calls it M), T (which is I), and W (which is U).
She's also finally catching onto her colors and will say most of them right but if you ask her what color something is, her default answer is "I don't know". She knows black, brown, red, pink, purple, green, sometimes orange and blue but doesn't know white and yellow.

3rd week of December 2016
(okay...today is December 15, 2017 and I'm blogging about the third week of December **2016**. I am now a full year behind. UGH!!!!! I need to get more committed to taking the time to blog.)
Silliness
Working on her number puzzle with Landen
One of her cute Christmas outfits
Peter and I went to our first regular season Cowboys game! We had great seats that we had won in the last CROSSMARK Casino Night Silent Auction. Our friends Tida and Jason came along. It was a lot of fun (and FREEZING outside!!!)
The Stadium is so big
Cheerleaders
Tida and I went to get some food. While we were gone, they scored!!!
Later in the game, we hit up some shopping and while we were out, they scored again! So we didn't spend much time in our seats watching the game after that because clearly they only played well when we weren't watching. :)
The game went into overtime and the Cowboys won! It was a fun game to watch.
And yet another Christmas outfit (I am so appreciative to my neighbor who passed on all these adorable clothes from her daughter who has outgrown them. She has given me bags and bags and bags of stuff.)
One of Maxwell's best friends, Preston, is moving out of state. They went to preschool together and have remained friends since.
There were tears and much sadness when it was time for this last play date to be over. :( (Tears from Preston...I'm not sure if Maxwell fully understands plus he's not an easy crier.)
Ready with our hot chocolate! Let's go see some Christmas lights!
We went to downtown Frisco and walked around.
A collage of just some of the holiday outfits Emmalyn has worn. It took a conscious effort to make sure they all got worn once!
Emmalyn wasn't feeling well so we headed to the doctor. A year later, I have no memory of what was wrong with her but I'm sure it was just a cold or something like that.
Entertaining himself during her visit.
I took the day off work a few days before Christmas when Maxwell was already out of school and we had a date day.
We started off with lunch at a restaurant with Ms. Mary Ann
Then I took him to Top Golf. (I had the best game I've ever had!! I was killin it!)
He loves top golf!
Katherine came over one night and we wrapped presents together and enjoyed some wine and snacks. It was a fun way to wrap (just a little less torture).
Kid update:
Emmalyn likes to cuddle if I'm sleeping in more in the morning. It's super sweet. She will bring her iPad and climb up and sit next to me and keep watching. Lately she has been getting up at 5 am, it's a fight to get her back to sleep. (I sure don't want to up that early!) She wants either cereal and milk or to cuddle in our bed. I try and keep her in her own bed until 6 and then finally give in and let her come into our bed. She doesn't want to sleep in her open foot sleep sack anymore so it's just PJs and a blanket.
The kids are really good. They like to get up early so Peter or I will get up and get them cereal/milk in the kitchen and they will eat while watching things on their iPads. It let's us get a little more sleep. :)
Max is usually up at 6 but just gets up on own, gets his iPad in the front room and is now at a point that he doesn't even let us know he's awake anymore A few times he's come into our room at 4 am to cuddle because he had a bad dream (I got him to tell me the details of one once - he was in a pool that was 36.4 feet deep and he wanted to swim down and touch bottom but couldn't get back up) He's excited that he has what he thinks is a loose tooth. I tried it and it wiggles maybe just a little but there were a couple others on the bottom that feel a little loose.
"BUT MOM" is a common phrase out of both kids' mouths and it is driving me nuts.
