March started with a re commitment on potty training. Emmalyn went potty on the big girl potty mostly in Vegas but I wimped out with diapers or pull-ups a few times. But no more in March except naps and bedtime! First day back on she had one accident. Day 2 was 0 accidents. Day 3 she had one accident and Day 4 no accidents. She's only having pee accidents although she seems to be pooping mostly when she's in a diaper and she asks me in the morning to let her wear diapers. (I can tell this girl totally gets it...she knows what she's doing...) Tonight I got her in pjs and diaper and later she asked if she could pee in her diaper. So she knows there is a difference between underwear and diapers and behaves differently in them. She is not sleeping peacefully lately and whimpers at night many times or talks in her sleep.
Maxwell has been spelling when he's talking. For Example , he'll say "Mom, can I have a s-n-a-c-k?" He's not always correct in his spelling but I think it's great that he's thinking that way!

Maxwell and I went to watch our next door neighbor Jared in his high school soccer game at the FC Dallas stadium. (I think it's pretty cool to be able to play on a MLS field when you are only in high school!)

We enjoyed a visit from our favorite "Casa Millar" guests -- Tida and Jason. We always have a fantastic time with them and our kids adore them too.
It took awhile to start playing games...I think we all got distracted. :)

That afternoon, we drove out to look at some tulip fields. Everyone knocked out on the way out there... We ended up waking up Maxwell once Emmalyn woke up. That was a BAD decision because he was Mr. Grumpy pretty much the whole time we were there.
Some of the tulips were in full bloom and some had just passed their prime. There were so many varieties. I had no idea!

We had another trip to the dentist. I hoped this would go as well as last time.

He didn't do quite as well as last time. He was more nervous once they started working in his mouth and kept swallowing the stuff so we weren't able to do the fluoride treatment like last time. Hopefully next time he will be good. One thing Maxwell is great at - - - he really looks forward to going to the doctor or the dentist. I can't think of a time where he's been nervous or scared - even when he knows he's getting a shot or something.
Before I took him to school, we stopped for lunch at Chik-fil-a... and finished lunch off with a treat. It was fun to go on a lunch date with him.
I've hated how dark the front of my house is even when my porch light is on... But I also always forget to turn my porch light on so my house is even darker outside. I am going to add some landscape lighting so here's a diagram that I had to submit to the HOA of where I am going to place the lights (where the white squares are).
I kept waiting to post about Christmas because I wanted to include all the videos I had of lights but I've decided to abandon the videos in favor of getting 2009 posts finished out before Valentines Day comes. :) Guess I better hurry!
Christmas Day was nice and quiet. It's the first time since in a few years where we didn't go to visit family or have family in town visiting us.

Here are our Christmas traditions (at least the ones I can think of right now):
-Each year we buy an ornament for our Christmas tree that represents something that we did or happened that year. -On Christmas Eve we prepare Monkey bread (aka cinnamon pullaparts) so that in the morning as soon as we get up we can pop it in the oven and then enjoy it while we are opening presents and lounging around the rest of the day. -Christmas dinner at our house includes the Honey Baked Ham and Turkey, Michal Thomas’s recipe for Potato soup, and homemade rolls.
Last year we really cut back on Christmas due to Peter losing his job that year. This year, we didn't have the same self control and enjoyed spoiling each other. :)
Peter got me a Sirius satellite radio so I can listen to Howard Stern wherever I go. WAHOO. He also got me a brand new digital camera. I had been using an old digital camera from work that took as many bad pictures as it did good so I couldn't wait to use the new one.
I have always teased Peter about how much I would like him to learn to play the guitar. When we were getting married I teased him and said that the best wedding present he could give me would be to learn how to play the guitar. :) Well recently he has talked about having an interest in learning so I jumped on this and bought him a guitar. (I think playing the guitar is a sexy talent!) It was great because he had no idea and it was a complete surprise. He really liked the present and spent the rest of the day learning how to play a couple chords. Here's a video of his first song:
That night we went back to look at the lights in that great neighborhood and when we were leaving we exited the neighborhood a different way and found an AMAZING house. They had a crazy display synchronized to a large variety of music. We stayed for a long time just watching. My favorite things was these lights twinkled down kinda of like a shooting star or a falling firework. I really wish I could upload the video so you could see it but you'll have to look at the video online.
This isn't that house but it IS the house that won first place in the neighborhood contest. Can you imagine their electric bill?
It was a great, simple Christmas this year with just the two of us.
Wife, Mom, and Career Woman. Trying to succeed at all three. Enjoy cruising, time with friends and family, and sleeping. Busy life doesn't leave time for as much fun as in the past but that's okay, it's still a good life.
