Things are speeding along with the house. There were lots of exciting things going on (okay, maybe not "exciting" in the normal sense but it's exciting to me to see the house look more and more like a real house each time we visit.) Warning - it's a lot of pictures. :)
Max, you don't look very happy, are you happy?
Okay...you are a little bit happy?
Oh, so now you're happy!!!
Here's the view of the neighborhood to the east of us. The house at the end of the street is going up quickly.
The front of the house (with some new dirt in the yard)
The garage doors are ready to be stained.
Woo hoo! We have a ceiling fan in the study.
The french doors in the study are all painted with doorknobs now.
WE HAVE ELECTRICITY!!!!! This is the half bath. (Seriously, I love love love our hardware - it's oil rubbed bronze.)
Half bath
Dining room
Front Entry and the chandelier
Our front door
The tile is finished throughout the house. This is the hallway to the garage off the entryway.
Guest bedroom at the front of the house
Guest bedroom bathroom
Garage (such a mess but the rest of the house is picked up)
The closet in the garage is done
Our mudroom - - (very excited about this)
Woo hoo - we have cabinets in the laundry room! (Upper)
Lower cabinets
The fireplace is all done
The family room (looking to the backyard)
The kitchen and nook
Another view of the kitchen
RUNNING WATER! (water and electricity? we could move in now!)
Master bedroom. Since living in California and Texas, I have developed a huge love of ceiling fans. If I ever went on Trading Spaces (home design TV show I used to love), I would be one of those people that fought to keep their ceiling fans.
Master bath
Master bathtub
The view from inside the tub. I had to check it out. :) Pretty comfy tub!
See? It's a shower!
Master closet
Toilet room in master bath
The fence posts were up in the backyard
The patio is all done. Someday we'll add a ceiling fan.
Light in the media room.
Peter checking it out.
Bathroom by Max's room.
The shower in that bathroom. Still need the hardware for this one.
Max's room.
Our little trooper. He puts up with us while we drag him through the house trapped in the car seat.
What's this???
It's a dry bar upstairs in the game room. Uh...we didn't pay for that upgrade. Why is it here? Wait a second...there wasn't any cabinets in the media room. Oh crap! They ordered and installed the dry bar upstairs rather than in the media room (Tip for future notice to help you avoid this issue - - cabinets and a countertop in a game room is called a "dry" bar while the same thing in a media room is called a "snack" bar.) So we went to the model home HOPING that everything was correct on the contract. The contact stated a media room dry bar. Apparently the builder focused more on the "dry bar" part than the "media room" part. The two spaces are sized differently so you can't just take them out upstairs and put them downstairs. So, the builder ordered the correct stuff for downstairs and then we negotiated on a price to leave the cabinets upstairs. I wasn't about to pay full price since I didn't want to pay for them in the first place.
Other side of the game room.
Upstairs bathroom
Bedroom upstairs. I wanted to show you how awesome the windows are. They tilt inside so you can easily clean the outside.
Front
Entry way
The A/C units are installed! (it certainly made a difference inside but it wasn't awful before since the house is so well insulated)
We have a mailbox.
Although, we will eventually know that it will remain empty for a month after we move in. The Post Office didn't budget for a mail carrier for our neighborhood so for a month we had to call our local (non-public) post office to send our mail to the closest public post office and then go pick it up. BIG PAIN IN THE REAR!
Max on the way home - he fell asleep with his hand like that on his car seat.
