Halloween Part III - A boy and his sucker

To give some candy to Max or NOT to give some candy... That is the question!

How about one of your crackers?

It was Halloween - of course he should get some candy!  At least, that's what I thought...Peter's position was that we shouldn't give him candy.  This was a switch because usually it's Peter who caves and gives Max more snacks while I push for Max to get some fruit or something with substance.  I talked Peter over to the dark side and Max got to have his first sucker ever!

He immediately knew what to do.

The rest of the pics are from my camera rather than my iPhone so they are much better!  It's just a bunch more of him and his sucker but I love all the different expressions.

Awful pic but I kept it because I imagine this is how his head felt as a result of the sugar rush. :)

His costume was getting so sticky and matted under his chin as a result of the great sticky drool.  Time to take it off!
But he kept the sucker.

Sweet Landen

I think the suckers are a hit!

The grape drool running down his chest really completes it, ha!

He decided to take a seat not just anywhere, but ON his race track.  And naturally never let go of the sucker.

Halloween Part II - Trick or Treating

We were excited to go trick-or-treating in our own neighborhood.  Although, to be clear, we didn't exactly go in our neighborhood since there are so few homes completed, few sidewalks, and lots of construction.  So instead we walked a few streets over to the neighborhood next to us that is part of our HOA.  We met lots of nice people, it was an extremely friendly place.  Hopefully that spirit seeps over into our neighborhood too.

There was no one left at our house to hand out candy so we put some candy in a bowl and left it on the porch. (Seriously, how do people go with their kids AND have someone at home to pass out candy?)  All of our few neighbors must have had the same approach that we did and went to another part of the neighborhood because by the time we got home it looked like maybe 2 pieces had been taken.  Peter made me buy 2 BIG bags of candy at Costco since this was our first year living in a real neighborhood where we would get trick-or-treaters.  And of course we had opened both bags and couldn't return one.  I try not to keep tons of snacks and candy in the house because it's easier to eat them when they are available.  Next year I figure we'll have TONS of trick-or-treaters.

My little lion ready to go (that's a toy mouse in his hand).  I thought a "lion" would be a fitting costume since for awhile there he growled all the time.

Our first stop - Our awesome neighbors Maryann and Chris.  (Did I mention that it's common for people to sit outside and hand out candy?  That NEVER happened in Utah!)  They were so sweet and made a special trick-or-treat bag for Max that had animal crackers and goldfish rather than give Max candy that he couldn't have.  Isn't that so thoughtful?!?!

Enjoying the night so far...

I mean, seriously?  Isn't this kid cute?!

Max didn't go up to all the houses.  At the beginning he was happy to sit in the stroller and watch everyone else.

Showing off the cute feet of his costume.

Starting to get tired

And the irritation starts to set in...which means he wasn't happy to stay in the stroller anymore.

The kids have escaped the strollers.

We let Max walk up to a few houses.  He was hilarious!
First off, the costume was much to long for him since he's such a shorty.  So his little paws dragged behind him.  Then, he was truly a cowardly lion.  He would walk so bravely up to the door and the second someone came to open the door, he'd turn right around and walk right back.  He certainly wasn't going to stay up there and try and get some candy.  Cracked me up.

And walking right back again!

Video - Here you can watch him in action.  :)  Happy Halloween

It was a lot of fun.  It will be even better next year when we can hit the streets right here and maybe Max will go get some candy so we have more candy to raid as his parents.  :)  (I should have given Peter some requests/guidelines when he took Max up and they let Peter choose what to take!  I would have told him that if it was chewy or hard candy, always stick to the red and pink colors and avoid tootsie rolls when at all possible!)

Halloween Part I - Britt's

 It's Halloween!

Max is putting the ball on his head and letting it roll off.  He thought he was pretty funny.

Video - Playing catch with Hayden.  Max is getting better at actually throwing the ball.

It was nice so the boys played on the patio for a bit while I was there.
Max started to say "cheese".  This is the smile I got when he said it.  :)  He is really aware when you are taking a picture and most of the time will smile when you ask him to.

Such a cheeser.  He's got a great fake laugh.

All the boys piled into the box together.

Pumpkins!

On the 28th, we finally got around to decorating/carving pumpkins.  Sure it was a little late and meant we didn't get to enjoy them forever, but at least we did it.  Peter actually carved his.

But first:  Here's a short video to show how Max is doing on his walking.  He's doing such a good job.  He is getting to be so fast!  Sorry for the abrupt ending, I realized he was starting to poop and thought that wouldn't be a great thing to capture on video.  :)

Buddies

Max got to finger paint on his pumpkin.
(These were the only paints I had, I didn't have any true finger paints.)

Yikes!  Don't put your fingers in your mouth.  I'm not sure if those paints are non-toxic!

My hands are dirty!

All done

I wonder what Maxwell is thinking in this moment... :)

Video - Max is lucky to get to spend time 5 days a week with cousins that love him so much.  They certainly have fun!

The day before Halloween this was all I got to see of Max during lunch - he was asleep the whole time.
