A unexpected birthday surprise!

We were driving home from celebrating Max's birthday at Gatti Town and Peter turns his phone towards me and shows me this picture that had been texted to him.

What?!?!
This is our niece and nephews - - who live in Utah!!!...at our front door!

I was so confused.  Is this an old picture?  Wait...They've not been in Texas since we bought our house...So this is a new picture???  Why are they at our porch without us knowing about it and CRAP we need to hurry home!!!

So we get home and Alex and his family are nowhere to be found.  They seriously wouldn't have been at our house and then gotten back on the road because we weren't home, would they?  But no, they just went to (I think...I can't remember at this point) grab some food since we weren't home.  They came back.  :)

This was such a crazy surprise.  They were up in Nebraska for a cousin's wedding and decided to make the extra drive to come surprise us before driving home.  It was so awesome so have them show up on Max's birthday.  We were able to talk them into staying 2 days rather than just driving home the next day.  I would have loved it if we could have talked them into staying even longer!

Max is into stacking things lately

Peter and I still had to go to work during the day so the kids enjoyed playing and having fun without us.

We introduced them to some good southern cooking at Babe's.

We followed up dinner with a visit to the Snow-Cone Lady

Cute picture - even with the photo bomb :)

All the kids - They got along really well

We enjoyed every minute we had with Alex and his family and had fun just hanging out.

The second night we enjoyed yummy taco's at  Rusty's Tacos

We finally got around to unwrapping Max's birthday presents before our visitors got on the road (it was just a few days after his birthday - that's not too bad).

I felt like Max had plenty of toys so we didn't do a ton of presents.  In fact, we re-gifted to him this car that he got for his first birthday but we had put up for later because there were already so many new toys.  So, since I can't remember who gave that to us...if you happen to read this blog and you are the person who gave Max this car for his first birthday - Double thanks!

He did great at unwrapping all the presents and the kids were so good at sitting back and letting him do it (love Payton and Jaxton's faces in the background - - poor kids...it's not fun when it's someone else's birthday).  Peter was in charge of buying his presents this year and got him some lego duplo cars.

Aunt Brittany and her family gave him this food set that you can "cut" up.  He of course loved it.  She's great at picking out the perfect present for Max.

Another dad picked present (all of which were hits with Max), his own Iron Man figure.

Yeah, we totally look like sisters.

Everyone checking out the new toys

Alex loves me

And I love giving him a hard time.  :)

Kisses for Aunt Tawny.  He quickly warmed up to all of them and loved having them here, too.

Peter also got Max this bunny rabbit.  He loves it and it must sleep with him every night.  He's never really cared about stuffed animals but Peter picked the perfect one.

We love you guys!!!

Silly faces!
