Homeowners!

The day we closed on the house (Aug 24) was a crazy day!  We had 4 big things going on...
#1 - We closed on the house (and needed to go pick up the cashier's check for the closing)
#2 - Kimberly was coming into town and needed to be picked up at the airport
#3 - The cable guy was coming to install the cable/Internet AND the fridge was being delivered
#4 - Max had his 1 yr check up with his pediatrician

I had planned and created a schedule around each of these items that would fit all of those things into our day perfectly.  Well, as they say, the best laid plans...

The day went off course pretty early.  We had planned on closing first thing in the morning so that there would be time for the loan to fund and we could get our keys from the builder.

Well, the day before, we found out that the loan company didn't have the correct amount for the loan.  We had made a few changes to the purchase price after we signed the initial contract due to a few upgrades and adding the blinds.  Each time, we signed an updated contract with the builder.  However, after the last change of adding blinder, that contact never got sent to the lender.  So when this was determined the day before, it threatened to throw everything off course.  The lender could fund the new price but would have to go through the work of getting it all approved again.  So Peter and I opted to just pay for the blinds ourselves and that would mean paying more at the time of closing.  (Which totally bugs since the only reason I went with this particular blind company was because it could be rolled into the total purchase price and thus financed and now that wasn't going to happen.  GRRR)  Anyway, so I thought that would fix everything but the final purchase price now needed to be changed on all the documents.  So we were at the mercy of the lender to get that paperwork to the title company.  We hoped it would get done in time.

The morning of closing, we left the house and about 5 min from the title company got the call that they didn't have the paperwork so we had to wait.  We drove around and worked on wasting some time...we were going to go look at gas grills after we closed but decided to do it now since we had the time.  Long story short - this was major drama for most of the morning.  Peter was frequently calling the title company/lender trying to track down the status and get this moving.  We were almost at the point of not being able to close because the title company didn't have anymore appts left that day and the lender finally came through with the paperwork.  Peter totally made this happen - he kept the pressure on both parties!  Thank you Peter!  It would have been AWFUL if our closing got pushed back because everything was planned according to this closing date:  the movers, the fridge, the birthday party, etc.

The good news was that we closed.  The bad news was that the closing had been pushed back and now my perfectly planned day was thrown totally off.  Brittany luckily was able to go get Kimberly (we had left my big car at her place just in case this happened she wouldn't have been able to take all 5 kids any other way).  We rushed to the bank to get the cashier's check and take it back to the title company.  While we were doing that, we got a call from the cable guy that he was there to install the stuff.  So we called the builder and asked if they could let him in.  Luckily, they said yes even though they hadn't been told the loan closed yet.

It was kind of surreal looking at that cashier's check for our down payment and closing costs.  It's hard to wrap your brain around how one minute you've got money that you've work hard for a long time to save and then the next minute, the money's gone.  But...you own a portion of a house. (?!)

After we dropped off the check we rushed to the house.  Brittany, Kimberly, and co were on their way there and I really wanted to beat them.  I didn't want Kimberly to see the house for the first time when I wasn't there.  We just barely beat them.

Peter unlocking our door and holding the paperwork with our garage door openers.

My turn...it's finally our home!

Max was tired and happy to see his dad.  He rarely cuddles like this.

Our rushed day continued... Kimber and Britt ran with the kids to grab some food because they were going to stay at the house since the cable guy had to go get some part and now the fridge was going to be delivered later in the day right when Max had his appt.  As soon as they got back, we left for Max's appt and I wolfed down the food they brought me in the car.

They had a picnic on the patio.

Video - Here's a video that shows Max enjoying all the space in the new house.  He is in heaven (and getting a good workout).

Max played with some of the toys in the waiting room.  I watched him thinking "my son is big enough to be playing with the toys?! crazy!"

Video - Here's Max playing.  I totally cringe watching him unexpectedly give kisses to himself in the mirror.  He's in a doctor's office for pete's sake...EW!

We were in the baseball room

Keeping him entertained while we waited

He did a good job with the Dr.  Although, they measured his height twice because they thought it might have been a mistake...it wasn't.  He got 3 shots and got over it pretty quickly.

Here's Max's Stats:
Weight: 18 lbs 15.5 oz (4th percentile)
Height: 27.25 inches (.8th percentile) - - yup not even the 1st percentile
Head: 46 cm (37th percentile)

He's just a little kid with a bigger head.  At least his head doesn't look huge on his tiny body.

Happy at home - last night in the apartment

Purple bandaids for his shots - I really hoped he wouldn't have a rough night due to the shots.  Tomorrow was moving day and I really wanted some sleep beforehand.
