Max is 1 year old! Part I - Birthday Breakfast

My baby boy turned 1 on August 19.  It is absolutely unreal to me that it's been 365 days since he made his appearance.  I still have to pinch myself sometimes about the fact that I have a child let alone one that is a year old!!!  I wonder when that will change...

I am so grateful for my Maxwell.  Peter and I love him so much.  Peter will send me text messages sometimes when I'm at work stating that he is missing Max.  And there are times I have to stop myself from waking him up in the evening because I miss him while he's sleeping.  He's such a special little guy with a darling personality and cute face.

I have so many pictures from Max's birthday that I am going to split this post up.

We went out to breakfast on his birthday to the Original Pancake House.  They brought Max some baby pancakes, which he loved (sans syrup - I'm not about to deal with a sticky syrup mess in a public restaurant).  I also put some of their fresh squeezed orange juice in his sippy cup with water.  He REALLY liked that.  The only juice he's gotten at home is prune juice when he was having pooping problems.  So this kid was in heaven when I let him have juice.  :)

Eating cereal before the pancakes got there

More pancake please!

Can't get enough of this juice!

mmm...pancakes

We hit the store afterwards for a few things and he got a birthday nap.

When we got home we let him hangout in his birthday suit (and a diaper) while he enjoyed Baby Einstein videos and I worked on his cake.

He is crazy drooly
He now will drink formula without a problem (doesn't need it warmed up or anything special)
He doesn't like diaper changes or getting dressed

Has strong NELSON blood which means he loves bread
He is now standing well by himself
Loves reading books
Chases you around and loves being chased
Shy with strangers but will give them a big smile first before turning his head and burying it in my shoulder.
He won't let strangers hold him.
He calms down to classical music and singing
He doesn't wear shoes
Hates hats and sunglasses
Loves the pool. Enjoys splashing and standing in the water by "himself"
Doesn't nap well on weekends
Still sleeps in pack n play in our bedroom
Drinks out of a regular cup (if we hold it and keep him from trying to drink too much)
Can feed himself with spoon if we load the spoon up with food
Likes seeing himself in mirror
Likes to open and close doors / move objects back and forth (like the seat bottom on a shopping cart)
He still crawls with his fists on carpet /  and hand on tile/wood - and his hands make the sweetest little slapping sound when he does
