7 Months old

(I wrote the below notes on March 19th.  I knew I was behind in blogging and I didn't want to forget what he was like at that age, so I wrote my thoughts and waited to publish it until I had caught up to this point in the blog.)

I can't believe we are at this point.  Maxwell is more than 1/2 a year old?!  CRAZY!

I adore being his mom.  He is such a darling boy.  I love watching him learn.  I love getting down on the floor and playing with him.  Getting him to smile or laugh is like a burst of sunshine in my day.

A big list of things about my Max:
He is so close to crawling.  He's great at pushing up on his arms and is starting to get up on his knees.
He's still a drool monster.
His bedtime routine - white noise machine is on, we read books, then he gets his Vitamin D drops, I swaddle him and then I turn off the light and lay him down.  Sometime he will let me just put him down in his bed (and fall asleep within 10 minutes of screaming).  Other times, it's not so easy and takes a lot more work.
As far as sleep positions go, he likes to roll over either on his side, arching his back or sleep on his stomach with his bum in the air.
Favorite toys: activity jumper, giraffe, turtle, car race track, a little blue stuffed elephant, or rattle that has a teether on one end and rattle on the other end
He is so cute in the jumper.  He's too short to really touch with the entirety of both his feet so he bounces on his tippy toes.
He's a good eater - although if he is not in the mood, he is not in the mood.
He has started really being aware that I nurse him to feed him and will grab my face and try to suck it to let me know he's hungry.
He reaches up to his parents to be picked up.
He is interacting more with Hayden and Landen - they play with him and he watches them, laughs at them, or plays with toys with them.
He is happy to be on his back and eat his toys.
He is great at rolling.
He is strong enough to stand up and only hold onto your fingers.
When changing his diaper, when I get to the point that I am ready to tape the new one I say "put your legs down", push lightly on his thighs, and he immediately drops his legs down.
He coos down the hallway at the apartment when ever we are heading to/from the apartment.
He is happy to ride in the car.
He will not just fall asleep anywhere like some babies (like on my shoulder or laying on the floor).  No, it's got to follow the few ways that are his routine or it won't work.
He sort of a horrible sleeper at night.  He is back to getting up 3-5 times per night.
He now recognizes the boppy pillow and knows that means he is going to be nursing soon so as soon as he sees me pick up the pillow he starts fussing anxiously.
He is still cooing and not yet babbling.
He plays with toys in the bathtub but it's more just sucking on the toys.
He eats solids 2 times a day.
He plays great by himself.
He loves TV - Baby Einstein products.
He still likes classical music and often he will calm down when he hears it.
He has the cutest chubby cheeks, hands (he has dimples rather than knuckles), wrists (they look like he has rubber bands around his wrists), and chubby legs.
He is a sensitive pooper when adding in a new solid to his diet and it usually takes a couple days after something new is introduced before his system adjusts and he'll have a bowel movement.
He loves being outside and peps up when we go on walks.
We tried the Baby Bjorn (infant carrier) with him facing outside first time yesterday and he loved it eventually but was initially scared with facing out and having his legs just hanging.  Once I showed him what was going on by looking in a mirror he calmed down and had fun.
He is very attentive and observant  - - will look around and check things out all the time.
He gives smiles to strangers but  most of the time doesn't want to be held.
He still sleeps in pack n play in our room and not in the crib in his room.
He is not happy to sit calmly on your lap.  He wants you to help him bounce and he has super strong legs.
He is in size 2 diapers, eats 5 oz when given a bottle, and still hasn't been given any formula, only breast milk.
He doesn't have a highchair yet so he eats usually sitting down on the floor.
He loves playing pat-a-cake.
I guarantee you, reading books always quiets him down.
He likes to be scared - boos commonly result in giggle.  And he giggles when tickled, (mainly his thighs and sides are his ticklish points).  He still will get the hiccups sometimes when he is laughing/giggle.
He wants to be watched and while he can play by himself there are times he doesn't want you to walk away.
When he's tired you know because he lays his head down or turns his head to the side in his car seat.
This is so cute - he rubs his eyes when tired or walking up.  I loves watching how he moves his wrists to do this.
Everything goes in his mouth.
He likes toy laptop at Brittany's.
When seated he is really good at pushing forward.
He will get happy and talk back to me when I call and talk to him on the phone.
He likes to read "Brown Bear, Brown Bear", "Goodnight Moon", and "Baby Animals" a touch and feel book.
 Talking and moving
"What are you doing over there?"
Video - Short video of Max cooing happily

I was turning to leave Brittany's house at lunchtime to go back to work and when I went to say goodbye to Max, I saw this and couldn't help taking a picture.
Me and my babe.  See how he's holding onto my finger?  This is what he typically does when I hold like this, his hand just automatically goes there and he holds on.  I absolutely love it.
